By the ARealMe Team

The AREALME CPS Test launched on September 5, 2019, making us one of the early websites dedicated to testing click speed. Our original design and features have since been copied and imitated by many other CPS sites. From live CPS charts and animal ranks to saved records, challenge modes and hidden surprises, we have helped set the standard for what a click-speed test can offer.

We keep raising that standard. Years of player feedback have shaped a faster, smoother experience, richer reports and more ways to play. This year’s CPS Test 2.0 redesign was another step in that work, and the new ranks below are the latest addition.

The CPS Test has four new ranks above the Falcon: Pegasus, Griffin, Phoenix and Dragon. Reach 15 clicks per second and the Dragon turns to face your score and sets it on fire.

A 15 CPS result on the 1-second test. The Dragon breathes on the number and the card takes the colour of the fire.

Why the Falcon Needed Company

Every result on the CPS Test comes with an animal. A slow run is a Sloth, 9 clicks per second is a Cheetah, and until now everything from 11 CPS up was a Falcon.

That made for a crowded top. According to the scoring table on the test page, 11 clicks on the 1-second test already puts a run in the top 14.80%. About one run in seven reached the last rank, and a faster run got the same picture.

So the ladder is longer now.

The Four New Ranks

RankFromSpeed on the cardOn the 1-second test
Pegasus12 CPS500 km/hTop 9.47%
Griffin13 CPS650 km/hTop 5.92%
Phoenix14 CPS900 km/hTop 3.62%
Dragon15 CPS1,235 km/hTop 2.12%

The last column comes from the same scoring table. Longer tests are harder: over 10 seconds, 12.6 CPS is already the top 0.94%.

CPS Test result card showing 13.0 CPS and the rank Griffin: an eagle's head and brown wings on a lion's body.

The four pictures are drawn in the style of the twelve animals that were already there: flat pieces of colour, between 134 and 146 of them each.

About Those Speeds

Nothing alive is faster than a peregrine falcon in a dive, which is where the ladder used to stop, at 389 km/h. So the ranks above it had to come from legend, and their speeds are ours: we made them up.

They climb from 500 km/h for the Pegasus to 1,235 km/h for the Dragon. That last number is the speed of sound at sea level.

The Dragon Breathes Fire

A Dragon result plays out in three beats.

Three moments of a 15 CPS result. First, a jet of flame leaves the dragon's mouth. Second, the flame reaches the score and the card starts to change colour. Third, the card is orange and small flames burn on top of the number.

The breath leaves, it reaches the number, and the number keeps burning.

First the Dragon arrives facing your score. The other three new ranks face the way they fly, away from it.

Then it draws back and breathes, and a jet of flame crosses the card.

When the fire reaches the number, the card turns from green to orange. The number burns for as long as the result stays on screen.

The flames are flat shards, like the animals themselves. If your device is set to reduce motion, you get one still frame of the burning number instead of the animation.

In 34 Languages, on Five Tests

The new names are in all 34 languages of the CPS Test.

Four CPS Test result cards: Dragon in Japanese at 15.0 CPS, Griffin in Spanish at 13.0, Pegasus in Korean at 12.0 and Phoenix in Arabic at 14.0.

The same ranks, and the same fire, are on the four sister tests, in every language each of them has:

Also in This Update

  • Your saved records keep their scores. Records of 12 CPS and above now show the new rank names.
  • If you started another round before a result had finished appearing, the next result could show its speech bubble twice, with one copy stuck on its first line. That is fixed.
  • The French Right Click CPS Test, the French Kohi Click Test and the Malay Drag Click Test did not start because of a script error. They work again.

Go for the Dragon

The shortest way there is the 1-second test: 15 clicks.

Take the CPS Test, and when your animal shows up, click it. It still sings.
