I recently put together this map to visualize something I’m very proud of: the global team that has built Arealme since 2014.
Each pin represents a translator who has worked with us over the last 11 years. There are over 100 of them, covering 34 languages. For a long time, everything you read on our site was purely human-powered.
We all know the world has changed. With the rise of AI, the translation industry is facing a massive shift, and many talented people are struggling to find their place. At Arealme, we’ve started using AI too, but looking at this map reminds me why we can’t—and won’t—go 100% machine.
AI is fast, but it doesn’t have a “hometown.” It doesn’t understand the local humor or the cultural soul that a real person brings to a personality test. That’s why we are still collaborating with our human team. We’re using AI as a tool, but our translators remain the heart of our content.
I’ll admit, I miss the “pre-AI” days. It felt more personal. But as we move toward 2025, I’m glad we’re finding a way to evolve without leaving our human partners behind.
To our team across the world: Thank you for the last decade. We’re still in this together.
